Sunnylea Pre-Primary School offers an OPEN DOOR POLICY where parents are welcome at any time.
At 75 Villiers Drive the school is situated high on a hill, overlooking Pietermaritzburg in the leafy suburb of Clarendon.
Since 2002 Sunnylea has been registered as a Non-Profit Organization (019-894-NPO). This means the school is exclusively funded by the parents. No additional financial support is given by the Government or from any Trust Fund.
The school consists of three separate buildings linked by a large metal structured canopy covering the area between the three buildings erected in 2012.
There are 6 classes catering for 3 age groups:
- GRADE RRR Sunflowers – 3-4 year olds
- GRADE RRR Sunbeams – 3-4 year olds
- GRADE RR Sunbirds – 4-5 year olds
- GRADE RR Sunfish – 4-5 year olds
- GRADE R Sun Bears – 5-6 year olds
- GRADE R Sun Turtles – 5-6 year olds
There are approximately 24 children in each class.
Psychomotor Education was included into the school curriculum in 2010 and every child attends weekly sessions at no extra cost. The extra-mural activities offered are Ballet, Hip-Hop, Swimming lessons and Experi Buddies (educational science program). Speech Therapist and Occupational Therapist are available during the morning for children with barriers to learning at a cost for individual parents.
An excellent After – Care programme offers parents an additional after school facility. This programme is open until 5.00 everyday and runs through the school holidays (except December). The After-Care is supervised by teachers who work at the school.
You are welcome to make an appointment and visit the school so that you may experience Sunnylea as a “happy place to be” for yourself.
